Crt fines Facebook 3,000 rbl for not informing on data localization
MOSCOW, Apr 12 (PRIME) -- A magistrate court in Moscow imposed a 3,000 ruble fine on the U.S. social network Facebook for failing to provide information on localization of personal data of Russian users in the country, according to information obtained by PRIME on Friday.
Representatives of Facebook, which could have faced a 5,000 ruble fine at the most, did not come to court.
The communications service asked Facebook and Twitter in December 2018 to report to it about localization of databases of Russian users in the country.
In January, the service opened an administrative procedure against the U.S. companies for their failure to give an unambiguous answer about obligatory localization of personal data.
The court considered a similar protocol regarding Twitter on April 5 and fined it 3,000 rubles as well.
